Abstract

In 2000, the first edition of the Political Science manual by Josep María Vallés was published: before 9-11 in New York, before 11-M in Madrid, before the Great Recession that began in 2007, before the irruption of social networks, before of the emergence of social movements such as 15-M or Occupy Wall Street. It is extremely difficult to gauge how much the world has changed in the last decade and a half. What is certain, however, is that political reality is evolving at a dizzying pace, and therefore it is about two worlds, that of 2000 and that of 2015, dramatically different. A work that managed to summarize the main political notions in the year 2000 is far from explaining them in 2015. For our knowledge of this reality to be adequate, the tools we have to study it must advance accordingly: it is necessary to update such knowledge of permanent way
